Keeping Dance Alive!
If you are looking for a 100 percent professional ballet production, Keeping Dance Alive is not your best choice. But if you are looking to support dance in Chico, and to keep dance alive you will be grateful for the performance in Laxon Auditorium's luxurious theater. It has stunning lighting and for its contribution to sustaining dance as a performing art in Chico.
Keeping Dance Alive started in 1991 with the Chico Ballet Company when Chico State closed most of its dance classes and retired dance as an undergraduate major due to budget cuts.
Music Review: Sonic Youth
Sonic Youth's latest album The Destroyed Room: B-Sides and Rarities starts out predictably enough with a heavy dose of twangy, ambient noise in the song "Fire Engine Dream." The first track is not without a certain driving rhythm, however, and its experimental tone is not without structure. The ample guitar section ascends through twisting mazes of heavy, dizzying sound as the first track winds through its more than ten-minute length without a single vocal interruption.
