Positions available: News Writing, Copy Editing, Photography, Business Management, Ad Sales, Public Relations/Publicity, Distribution, Graphic Design (emphasis on Adobe® InDesign® CS2 and Adobe® Photoshop® CS2) and Basic Web Design.
This course presents practical experience in all operations necessary to design and produce the Butte College Roadrunner, a community newspaper.

JOUR 6 - Newspaper Production/Roadrunner 4 units
Prerequisite: English 119
Transfer Status: CSU 17 hrs lecture/51 to 102 hrs lab
Emphasis is upon development of critical thinking skills and practical operations necessary in newspaper operation. Students may choose to emphasize one of two options: news writing and editing or graphic design and photography. All students will have some training and instruction in both areas, and all students will have some responsibilities and training in the business management of the paper, including circulation, ad sales, bookkeeping and public relations/publicity. Since skills and proficiencies are enhanced by supervised repetition, this course may be repeated three times.
